Will Writing

We visit clients at home, often in the evening which means employed people do not have to take time off work and the elderly don't have to venture out in bad weather.

The interview is about ascertaining exactly what is wanted, and very often we find that people have the right ideas as to what to do but the wrong ideas about how to go about it. This is simply because the law is a vast subject with many twists and pitfalls which can easily trip the unwary.

We subsequently forward the Wills for approval and signing, and most people ask us to hold them in safe custody for fear of their getting lost over the years, as 37% of Wills seem to do.

Will Writing is a very serious business and since we started in 1991 has become much more about protecting family assets from the government grab than it ever used to be.

A rise in the divorce rate and second marriages, and lately extended partnerships, has also presented challenges with regard to ensuring children receive their rightful share of their parents estates, albeit in the long run, whilst still arranging for new spouses to have use of assets for their lifetimes or until their circumstances change and they start a new chapter in their lives.

Much more money is in circulation nowadays and very high insurance policies, death in service insurance benefits, pension plans and inflated property prices, and quite often second properties either at home or abroad, means that much more is at stake than ever used to be and for far more people than ever before.

Traditional matters like appointing Executors, Guardians and Trustees remain as important ever, but with an ageing population more people are looking ahead, and are wanting to plan to ensure their families benefit to the fullest extent from their life's work as measured in money and property, without suffering long delays in probate, or subsequent hardship through loss of assets.

A well written Will is the answer to these issues.
